Immaculate Tank Unit(I.T.U)

Three Common Issues with RV Tanks:

Odors

Unpleasant smells emanating throughout the RV or at the Toilet, often caused by waste build up and bacteria on tank walls.

Clogs

Toilet paper and waste can accumulate, causing clogs in the tank and drainage system. Insufficient water can contribute to clogs, especially when flushing. Leaving the black tank valve open can also lead to poop pyramids forming in the tank. Struvite crystals can build up can also cause clogs as well.

Inaccurate Level Sensors

Sensors fail to provide accurate readings due to buildup of waste and toilet paper on the probes. Struvite can also build up on your sensors!

Struvite

Struvite is a hard, crystalline mineral deposit from our urine and waste breakdown. It is made of magnesium, ammonium, and phosphate. Hard Water (Usually at RV sites) adds Magnesium and phosphate-key ingredients for Struvite.

Struvite Rock

Struvite Flakes

Struvite Sludge

How to Prevent/ Eliminate Struvite

1. Use Plenty of Water When Flushing! Start with a full tank, fill it up some more- Flush everything down at once!

2. Use Enzyme or Bacteria Based Treatment

3. Avoid leaving Tanks Open! Keep closed until they are full, or at least 3/4 Full.

4. Professionally Hydro Jet Your Tank every 6 months- 1 year depending on how much you use your RV!

Sensors

Overtime sensors will stop reading correctly. In your black tank you have a build up of Solid waste, Toilet Paper, Sludge, Bacteria and Struvite that can block sensors. In your Gray Tank you have a build up of FOG- Fats, Oils, and Grease- not to mention Mold, Struvite, Hair, Skin Cells, Lotions, Hair Products and Sludge that initially cover tank sensors.

Before

After

Best ways to keep RV Sensors Clean

  1. Use Lots of Water!!! Add water Before, After, then Set it up for the next person

  2. Use Enzyme or Bacteria Based Treatments

  3. Avoid Dry Tanks! Every Single Time after Flushing your black tank, make sure to put 2-5 gallons back into the tank along with some tank treatment. Also put treatment + Water in your Gray tanks as well after draining them.

  4. Regular Tank Flushing and Hydro Jet Flushing for Maintenance

If cleaning is ineffective, the sensors may need replacement.
